How to Have Fun if You’re Rich, Famous and have Done a Little Ruthless Introspection
In my stress management and consulting work at eventschairmassage.com I often get to meet really interesting and occasionally rich and famous ones.
Once after a long day at a corporate wellness event, I went to dinner at a vegan, natural food restaurant with a few speakers and some of my events chair massage staff. During the meal the actor Michael J. Fox was seated next to my table and in a while we began a conversation about the concept of fame.
During the conversation, he made the comment that a person “can’t feel famous.”
You wake up every day with yourself. Then you watch television, or go outside and suddenly there are all these strangers outside of your house taking you picture and making up stories about you for the tabloids. Yes you ARE famous but you can’t feel famous.
I always remembered that conversation and I would occasionally ask myself how the very rich and very famous have fun – Real fun, not just awards ceremonies, and public appearance. I’m talking about experience all the elements that give life meaning. The “simple pleasures” kind of fun.
Apparently the actor Val Kilmer knows how to have fun. He is a fine artist and doesn’t take himself too seriously.
I especially enjoyed the article because it addressed many ideas about life, living, wealth and fame that are usually not addressed.
Here’s a toast to the actor Val Kilmer for knowing how to live life well, even after surviving cancer.
